| I moved to the Big Island in 1989 from Lake Tahoe, California. I loved the mountains, skiing, sailing, hiking and biking, but felt the need to be on and near the ocean. Where better than Hawaii's beautiful blue, warm cleansing beaches? My dream was to swim with the dolphins! While in Tahoe my friend and I were largely responsible for getting the tuna companies to label their tuna. "DOLPHIN SAFE". While we didn't start the crusade to save the dolphins from being captured, drowned and crushed in fishing nets, we were lucky to get this project accomplished in a relatively short time. While working at a local resort, I was fortunate enough to meet a man who owned a "live-aboard" dive boat, who was looking for help! This was the perfect opening for my new move to be on the water! I didn't realize that the dolphins would become so much a part of my life and passion. There were many days they would come wake me up in the morning by swimming around the boat splashing and playing, seeming to say WAKE UP, Come play!! Wow, that caught my attention! I went on to become a Boat Captain and dive master. Where I enjoyed the ocean and all it's fabulous cetaceans, pelagic, fishes, and adventure around every corral head. My friends started calling me THE MERMAID! Which is a wonderful endearment to me and a title I treasure. My husband is a helicopter pilot. One of the most skilled and knowledgeable pilots on the island. ONE more reason that I am very familiar with the island and it's nuiances as well. Having lived here for almost 20 yrs. I now have 2 active boys who love to find new fishing holes, hikes, beaches, and like mom & dad, adventure! I went on to establish my own activity and concierge business where I send people all over the island to do everything from horseback ride, hike, ATV, helicopter trips, to DIVING ,snorkel and dolphin & whale watch adventures. I very much enjoy showing people our piece of paradise and find it extremely gratifying when I hear how much they enjoyed all the beautiful places and things our island has to offer. When it comes to real estate I feel it is not only important to find the right home in the right price range that clients can feel comfortable with but also to know what type of micro-clime my client prefers. The Big Island having 11 of 13 micro-climates. For example, if my clients are from Pacific Northwest they may prefer Waimea, Ahualoa, or up country Holualoa. From Arizon or southwest, perhaps Wakoloa or Puako area. Being a mother I believe it is also important to be aware of schools in clients preferred area, traffic, planned developments, as well as, of course know volcanic history and activity. I believe that my knowledge, sincerity, integrity and love of our island shows. I know I can be an invaluable asset in any real estate transaction. To find your dream ….. LET me be your guide/ Real Estate Agent. |
